Examination Type

  • Jurisprudence (Massachusetts Specific) The current jurisprudence examination is based on the 2014 Jurisprudence Handbook.
  • EPPP (Examination for Professional Practice in Psychology)

Examination Information Content

Examination Sites

  • Both EPPP and Jurisprudence are computer-based tests and have multiple testing locations.
  • Applicants select the location when registering with the test vendors.

Grade Information

  • EPPP -You will receive a score at the test site. Scores are emailed to examinees from PCS semi-monthly.
  • Reciprocity – Applicant must request an official score transfer from the Association of State and Provincial Psychology Boards (ASPPB) for an additional fee, to be sent to the MA Board.  
  • Jurisprudence -You will receive a score at the test site. Received and processed into the applicant account in 2-3 business days
  • Passing applicants- If both scores (JP and EPPP) have been received, applicants will be sent for a CORI Background check. Once CORI is complete and approved, the applicant will receive information on obtaining licensure. 
  • Fail Score- Applicants who receive a failing score will receive an email to submit payment for the re-exam. Once the re-exam payment has been submitted, an updated authorization will be issued, and the applicant can sit for the re-exam in 90 days.  

Licensure Information

  • Board posts license information once all requirements, including the CORI background check, have been met.
  • License numbers can be viewed by visiting: https://checkahealthlicense.mass.gov/
  • The Board will email instructions on how to download your license wallet card and wall certificate.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Q: I am having difficulty opening some of the forms. What can I do?
A: 
Most of the forms are viewable in Adobe Acrobat only. Adobe Acrobat Reader is available free of charge.

Q: What if I am requesting special examination accommodations in accordance with the Americans Disability Act (ADA)?
A: 
Candidates who qualify for special accommodations due to disability must submit a letter to the Board of Registration of Psychologists requesting such accommodation, along with supporting documentation. This must be reviewed by the Board. After review, the Board will notify you by mail of your approval or denial. The Board will also notify PCS.

Q: What should I do if I have an address change?
A: Email your changes to mapsychology@pcshq.com or fax your changes to the MA Psychology Coordinator at 615-846-0153.

Q: I cannot register for my exam with PSI? A: If all required documents and fees have been submitted on your account and you have received the authorization to test email, please email mapsychology@pcshq.com for assistance.
