Licensure by Examination
1. Candidate will visit FSBPT online to complete exam registration. FSBPT sends notification to PCS when a candidate registers for the exam for MA.
2. Candidate will complete and submit Licensure Application for Physical Therapists or Licensure Application for Physical Therapy Assistants and fees to PCS. Please allow 3 to 4 weeks to process your application once PCS has received all documentation.
3. PCS reviews application for completeness.
- If incomplete, PCS will notify candidate by email, if provided, or by postal mail.
- If complete, PCS will approve for examination.
4. Candidate makes exam appointment and sits for examination.
5. FSBPT sends notification to PCS when the candidate has taken the exam and the exam score is made available to PCS (approximately one week after exam date).
6. PCS processes exam scores.
- If candidate fails exam, score is sent to candidate with a re-exam application.
- If candidate passes exam, score is sent to candidate, by mail, with an official letter that contains their MA license number.
7. PCS sends license information to MA Board.
8. MA Board posts license numbers on their website within 1 week from the date of approval from PCS. Candidates may visit the Board website’s Check A License online service for their license information.
9. MA Board mails wallet-sized license to applicant within 6 weeks after scores are mailed.
10. Candidate may order a wall certificate by sending a copy of their license approval letter along with a fee of $25.00 to PCS by mail. Personal checks are not acceptable.
