Each candidate must have successfully completed two years of academic work at a college or university accredited by the Department of Education and a one year course at a mortuary college or University accredited by the American Board of Funeral Service Education, Inc. or shall have completed one year as a resident intern.

Resident internship applications must be obtained directly from the Pennsylvania State Board of Funeral Directors.
