FIRST-TIME FE CANDIDATE PROCEDURE WITH ABET DEGREE:
1. Candidates who have completed at least two years of an ABET accredited engineering degree may register with NCEES at www.ncees.org for the FE CBT examination.
2. Once you have successfully passed the FE CBT examination, you may apply for EIT certification by submitting an FE EIT Certification Application and request an official final transcript to be sent to PCS directly from your school. Please see the FE Certification Eligibility Requirements link for more information.
FIRST-TIME FE CANDIDATE PROCEDURE WITHOUT ABET DEGREE:
1. Applying based on a foreign degree: Candidates are required to mail a completed FE Pre-Approval Application form, and the application fee to PCS. A foreign education credential evaluation conducted by NCEES is strongly suggested to apply for the examination and/or licensure. NCEES will determine if the foreign degree is equivalent to an ABET accredited degree. Candidates must request for NCEES to electronically transmit the evaluation to the Pennsylvania Board. Please email your coordinator at [email protected] to inform PCS that the evaluation has been sent to the Board.
2. Applying based on a non-ABET U.S. BS Engineering degree and a non-ABET U.S. MS Engineering degree: (Effective June 2, 2009, the Pennsylvania Board will no longer view or accept programs under the Washington Accord as being "substantially equivalent" to a degree from an EAC/ABET accredited program.)
Candidates are required to mail a completed FE Pre-Approval Application form and the application fee to PCS. An official final transcript showing degree must be sent directly from the school to PCS. A foreign education credential evaluation conducted by NCEES is strongly suggested to apply for the examination and/or licensure. NCEES will take both degrees to determine if they are equivalent to an ABET accredited degree. Candidates must request for NCEES to electronically transmit the evaluation to the Pennsylvania Board. Please email your coordinator at [email protected] to inform PCS that the evaluation has been sent to the Board.
3. Applying based on work experience: Candidates are required to mail a completed FE Pre-Approval Application form, the application fee, and the "Amplified Record" with original signatures to PCS. PCS must receive five "Reference Forms" directly from the references, at least three of the references must be licensed Professional Engineers. The references do not have to submit copies of the candidate's amplified record.
FE Pre-Approval Application
PCS will process applications, communicate any deficiencies to the applicants and submit completed FE Pre-Approval applications to the Pennsylvania Board for approval to sit for the examination. The normal processing time for first time applications is two to three months after receipt of all required documentation. If the Pennsylvania Board requires additional information, they will mail candidates a discrepancy letter.

RE-EXAM FE CANDIDATE PROCEDURE:
1. Please visit www.ncees.org to register for the FE CBT examination. At this time you will pay the examination fee and schedule an exam date and location.
