- Candidates must pre-register under their full legal name as it appears on their government issued identification (i.e. Driver's License).
- Candidates must enter a valide e-mail address during registration which will be used by PCS to forward all examination information.
- Examination Fees are due at the time of registration (Mastercard, Visa, Discover).
2. Apply with the Missouri State Board of Cosmetology & Barber Examiners. Click here
3. PCS receives approval from Missouri State Board of Cosmetology & Barber Examiners.
- The Board Office will electronically notify PCS when a candidate is eligible to take examinations.
4. Examination Notification - Once approved, PCS will e-mail information pertaining to examinations.
- Theory Examination - Candidate will receive an Authorization To Test (ATT) Letter via e-mail within 2 business days.
- Practical Examination - Candidate will receive an Practical Examination Notification within 1 business day of Board Approval informing them of their scheduled date. An Admission Notice including the date, time & location will be e-mailed 10 business days to the approved examination date. Candidate must notify PCS at 1-888-822-3272 if they have not received a practical Admission Notice by the Monday prior to the examination. (NOTE: Instructor Candidates will receive a lesson plan topic for the practical examination within 2 business days after the board has deemed them eligible to test.)
In order for candidate to receive their requested practical examination date, candidate must register with PCS and be approved by the Board Office by the deadline date. If not, the candidate will receive the next available date at the site requested.
5. Score Information
- Theory Examination - An score notice will be provided at the theory examination site.
- Practical Examination - An score notice will be sent 10 business days after examination.
Candidates who fail the exam will receive a score notice to include a Strength & Weakness report along with information on how to re-register.
6. License Information
- It is not necessary to notify the Board Office that you have passed an examination; the Board Office is provided candidate scores on a daily basis.
- The Board Office will automatically send your license. Please allow 7-10 business days to process and mail your license.
Information Changes
Address Changes - A candidate may log into www.pcshq.com at anytime to update their address.
- It is the candidate's responsibility to notify the Board Office of this change.
Name or Social Security Number Changes - A candidate must notify PCS in writing if either their name or social security number needs to be updated (fax: 615-846-0153 or e-mail: [email protected]).
- Legal proof of Name Change can be a marriage certificate, divorce decree, or petition for name change.
- It is the candidate's responsibility to notify the Board Office of this change.
