In 1998, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico requested the National Association of State Boards of Accountancy, (NASBA), consider providing services to non-accountancy related professions. NASBA had been working closely with Puerto Rico in the processing and administration of the Uniform Certified Public Account Examination in Puerto Rico. Because of Puerto Rico’s request, Professional Credential Services, (PCS), was created as a wholly-owned for-profit subsidiary of NASBA. The Puerto Rico Board of Engineers and Land Surveyors became PCS’ first client in 1998 and PCS began administering its first national Engineering and Land Surveying examinations.
For the next eleven years, PCS continued to grow and develop its portfolio of clients and services. In June of 2011, a partnership of assessment industry veterans with an experienced private investment firm, acquired a majority share of PCS from NASBA. PCS continued to expand to provide examination development, examination administration and licensing and certification services in the U.S. and Puerto Rico for 50+ professions and occupations. Its client base continues to include several state jurisdictions and many national associations.
PCS boasts an executive team with extensive experience and a diversified skill set. The company is led by a cross-functional team that includes industry leaders with advanced degrees and experience in business administration, marketing, business logistics, information technology, Lean Six Sigma, and quality assurance. With a combined total of over 38 years of experience in the testing industry, PCS is also in the unique position of being able to leverage our experience garnered from years of working with many unique and varied professions.
